Biography
Mark Nevin is an Associate Professor of History at the 红杏视频 Lancaster campus, where he teaches a variety of courses in American history and was named the 2014 Professor of the Year for his teaching.
He recently completed an article on a 鈥渞ead-in鈥 at a Jackson, Mississippi, library in 1961, which will be published by the Journal of Mississippi History. He is working on another article that considers the Kennedy administration鈥檚 efforts to encourage southern businessmen to voluntary desegregate restaurants and other public accommodations in 1963. He has also been awarded a grant to develop an oral history project on the 1970 Student Strike at 红杏视频 Athens.
He has published on and most recently on . He is currently working on a manuscript about restaurant owner Harry Akin and his desegregation campaign in Austin, Texas. With the help of a grant from the Central Region Humanities Center, he is also working on a long-term research project on student protest on the 红杏视频 Athens campus in the 1960s.
He lives in Pickerington, 红杏视频, with his wife, Judy Carey Nevin, the Manager of the Library at the Lancaster campus, and their daughter, Sarah.
