Services Provided
To the College: Monthly meetings, guest lectures on Catholic bioethics/medical ethics, faith-and-medicine integration panels, and spiritual formation events (e.g., White Mass, prayer groups). Provides a supportive community for Catholic and faith-friendly students. To the Profession: Promotes conscience rights, ethical medical practice aligned with Catholic teaching, and networking with Catholic physicians. Helps prepare students for ethical challenges in residency and practice. To the Community: Participation in pro-life initiatives, health outreach, and service projects. Collaborates with the local Columbus CMA Guild. Philanthropic events: White Mass (annual), Hippocratic Oath Dinner, support for medical missions or local health fairs, fundraising for student scholarships to national CMA conferences, and community service events (e.g., free clinics or health education in underserved Catholic communities).
Tentative Schedule 2026-2027
Fall:
- Welcome / Kick-off Meeting (August/September)
- White Mass or joint prayer service
- Bioethics lecture series (1–2 events)
- Joint event with other faith-based groups (e.g., Christian Medical & Dental Associations)
Spring:
- Monthly meetings/discussions on faith in medicine
- Hippocratic Oath Dinner or awards event
- Service project / medical mission awareness event
- End-of-year social / reflection Ongoing /
Monthly:
- Faith-sharing
- Prayer groups
- Guest speakers (physicians, ethicists).
Joint organizations: Often collaborates with other HCOM faith-based groups and the local Columbus Catholic Medical Association Guild.
Financing: Primarily dues (if any), fundraisers (e.g., bake sales, t-shirt sales), and sponsorship from local CMA Guild or college student activity funds. Many events are low- or no-cost.
