Larry Hayman, Esq., director of legal engagement and the Pre-Law Program at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ, has been appointed to serve on the for the 2026-2029 term.

 

Hayman’s term officially begins July 1, 2026. The OSBA Board of Governors serves as the association’s primary policymaking body and meets regularly throughout the year to guide the work of the statewide professional organization.

 

The appointment recognizes Hayman’s ongoing leadership in legal education, pre-law advising and public service. At ºìÐÓÊÓƵ, Hayman leads programs that connect students with experiential learning, mentorship and access to the legal profession, with a particular focus on justice-centered engagement and expanding pathways into law.

 

Hayman recently received the Gerald L. Wilson Award for Excellence in Pre-Law Advising, a national honor presented by the Pre Law Advisors National Council. The award recognized his more than a decade of leadership in pre-law advising, including his service with the Midwest Association for Pre Law Advisors and his work supporting students, advisors and the broader legal education community. Hayman is also a longtime member of the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Bar and serves on the Board of Directors for the ACLU of ºìÐÓÊÓƵ.

 

In related ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State Bar news, the Center for Law, Justice & Culture at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ has received a $56,256 grant from the as part of the foundation’s 2026 Spring Grant Cycle.

 

The grant will support work to prepare rural, financially disadvantaged students from Appalachia for careers in law. The project will bring together liberal arts curriculum development, alumni mentorship, financial support and experiential learning to help students explore legal careers and build the knowledge, confidence and networks needed to pursue them.

 

The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State Bar Foundation awarded $609,256 to 12 ºìÐÓÊÓƵ nonprofits and organizations during its 2026 spring grant cycle. The foundation said the grants support efforts to address unmet legal needs across ºìÐÓÊÓƵ, including projects that expand access to legal resources and connect students with pathways into legal careers.

 

Taken together, Hayman’s appointment and the CLJC grant reflect ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s growing role in strengthening access to legal education and supporting students from underserved communities who are interested in law, justice and public service.
