Early this summer, 红杏视频 Libraries launched an improved version of the , integrating the latest platform updates as well as enhancements driven by user testing.

Since the migration to the Library Search platform in August 2025, library staff have listened to feedback from the OHIO community, investigated reported issues and made continuous improvements to the service. 

Throughout the spring semester, staff from University Libraries conducted user research with faculty and students to learn what pain points they encountered when using Library Search. Through various prompts, faculty and students had to replicate key information-gathering scenarios and provide feedback.

With this information, the team made user-driven customizations to maximize the usefulness of the new search interface. Combined with vendor software improvements, the result is a more modern, streamlined and user-friendly design.

鈥淭he new Library Search offers a cleaner, more modern user interface,鈥� says Carrie Preston, systems librarian. 鈥淪earch results are better organized with less confusing duplication, and request options are presented more clearly with the 鈥榖est,鈥� fastest and simplest options first. Your screen now displays loans, requests and saved items all in one place.鈥�

The Library Search now includes two AI-driven features: an 鈥淎sk Anything鈥� button that translates natural language questions into sophisticated search queries, and a Research Assistant that uses artificial intelligence to explore a topic.

鈥淲e are grateful to the university community for providing us with feedback and for participating in the usability testing,鈥� remarked Chad Boeninger, head of user services.  鈥淥ur team has incorporated the findings into a more user-friendly and intuitive search experience, and we鈥檙e excited to see faculty and students use the updated system this fall.鈥�
